First Hug: Bringing Love to Abandoned Babies

Since October 7th, 2023, Israeli hospitals have cared for a heartbreaking wave of abandoned and orphaned infants — babies whose parents were killed, injured, abducted, or called to reserve duty. Many are displaced from war zones, far from home and support. The organization’s name is “First Hug.”

Shuva Global has supported First Hug financially for years, but after the terror attack two years ago, the increase of abandoned babies has skyrocketed. According to Siyon Almog, founder of First Hug, the organization has become a lifeline. Thanks to your support, 300 volunteers serve in 83 hospital wards and 22 rehabilitation centers, providing round-the-clock care to unaccompanied babies. Since the war began, emergency referrals have increased 33%.

Dr. Shay Attias visited the neonatal wards, and this is what he says: “I held a tiny baby, too young to understand loss, and felt the sacred responsibility we carry — to protect life, offer love, and fight for their future."

Every gift trains volunteers, sustains First Hug’s presence in hospitals, and ensures that even the smallest and most vulnerable is never left alone.
